TE VOGLIO BENE (BRZ) (D O’Donohoe) was slow to begin. Near the 1200m, OTRANTO (USA) (R Ffrench) was crowded for room and lost its racing position when GLOBAL LEADER (AUS) (S Al Taleei), which was racing on its outside began to shift ground and drop back quickly. Shortly after this, SENLIS (JPN) (T Durcan) had to be taken outwards to avoid the heels of GLOBAL LEADER (AUS). Near the 200m, CHUN TOSAIGH (USA) shifted outwards obliging Jockey W Buick to stop riding and straighten the gelding. TRI ANOTHER CAT (USA) (F Jara) returned having bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that TRI ANOTHER CAT (USA) would not be permitted to start for 21 days and must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer prior to being entered to a race again. GLOBAL LEADER (AUS) returned having bled from both nostrils. Given this was the second time the gelding had bled, Trainer Mr M Kettle was advised that GLOBAL LEADER (AUS) would not be permitted to start for 60 days and must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer prior to being entered to a race again. CONFEDERATION (USA) (R Mullen) returned with a cut to its mouth.

DYNAMIC SAINT (USA)(F Jara) was slow to begin. ROHAANI (USA) (R Hills) jumped outwards at the start crowding ANANI (USA) (R Mullen) for room. Near the 1850m, ROHAANI (USA) had to momentarily steady from the heels of SUNDAY SYMPHONY (GB) (D Smith) when that gelding shifted inwards. ROHAANI (USA) then commenced to race keenly for a short distance after this. On enquiry, it was established that when ridden to obtain a forward position, REMAADD (USA) (W Buick) had shifted inwards causing DUBAI TWILIGHT (GB) (A Ajtebi) to shift in onto SUNDAY SYMPHONY (GB) with that gelding being steadied which required ROHAANI (USA) to be steadied from the heels of SUNDAY SYMPHONY (GB). As such, the Stewards reprimanded Jockey W Buick (REMAADD [USA]) for not allowing runners on his inside sufficient room. Making the turn near the 1200m, ANANI (USA) was tightened for room to the inside of RAMPALLION (GB) (D Badel). Passing the 400m, ROHAANI (USA) was crowded for room between SINGING POET (IRE) (T O’Shea) and REMAADD (USA) and had to be steadied and taken outwards to obtain clear running. On enquiry, it was established that at this stage Jockey R Hills (ROHAANI [USA]) had elected to take a run between SINGING POET (IRE) and REMAADD (USA) but when he had asked ROHANNI (USA) to move into this position it had failed to respond as he would have liked. Shortly after this, SINGING POET (IRE) had commenced to shift ground inwards. It was at this time that ROHAANI (USA) had finally responded, however the gap had closed which resulted in ROHANNI (USA) bumping with REMAADD (USA) and having to be steadied and then taken outwards to obtain clear running. The Stewards accepted the circumstances that led to the interference although Jockey T O’Shea (SINGING POET [IRE]) was advised that he was expected to make a greater effort to straighten his mount when it shifted ground in future.

MANDOBI (IRE) (W Buick) shifted outwards at the start carrying BRAVE TIN SOLDIER (USA) (K Latham) out onto TAWAASH (USA) (R Hills) which was then tightened for room onto the hind quarters of MERCURY CHIEF (SAF) (F Jara) and lost its position. ABLAAN (USA) (P Devlin) commenced awkwardly and was crowded for room when HEART ALONE (BRZ) (R Mullen) on its inside shifted out and at the same time LIMEHOUSE (SAF) (D O’Donohoe) shifted inwards. LIMEHOUSE (SAF) was eased out of the race near the 350m. When questioned regarding this, Jockey D O’Donohoe (LIMEHOUSE [SAF]) stated that the gelding in his opinion had lost its action near the 400m and as such had elected to ease LIMEHOUSE (SAF) out of the race as he believed it may have been injured. A post race veterinary examination of LIMEHOUSE (SAF) revealed no abnormalities. Jockey P Devlin reported that ABLAAN (USA) had suffered slight interference at the start and his mount never traveled thereafter. A post race veterinary examination of ABLAAN (USA) revealed no abnormalities although the gelding had suffered a small cut to its near fore. When questioned regarding the performances of these two horses, Assistant Trainer Mr T Brown could offer no excuses of the poor performance of either of the horses.
