Following specifications laid down by
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Dhruba Selvaratnam,
the track and grandstand were constructed in 1990. A further
level was added to the grandstand in 1995 to accommodate corporate
hospitality guests. There is currently seating for over 2000
people. The Jebel Ali Racecourse has become known for its 'Garden
Party' like atmosphere.
Right handed horseshoe shaped track of 2200 metres (racing distance) with a 900 metre run into the finish. It has a 1400 metre straight course. Surface is a mixture of sand and oil. Well known for its steep European style finish.
General admission is free. Ample car
parking facilities are available. Racegoers are issued with
complimentary race cards and form guides at the entrance gates,
and enter the public enclosure through the 'Faltaat Tunnel'
built in 2001. Children are permitted but parents are requested
to keep them under close supervision in the public enclosures.
Smart Casual
There are usually 6-7 races held per afternoon, each at intervals of 30 minutes. The first race is held at 2.30pm.
A Pick Six competition is held at every
race meeting. Results of the competition are announced in the
paddock following the final race.
Soft drinks and light snacks are available.
Packages and proposals can be
tailor made to meet all requirements. Private viewing boxes
are located upstairs in the grandstand but availability is
limited as priority is given to sponsors of the race meeting.
