STEWARDS REPORTS
ABU DHABI EQUESTRIAN CLUB. SUNDAY JANUARY 1, 2012
After arriving at the course, the Stewards inspected the Dirt Track and the technical components in place for Race 1 to be conducted on the Dirt Track as programmed. Given concerns, a further inspection was undertaken after a delegation of senior riders had arrived on course. The following concerns were discussed: the dirt surface contained some stones and numerous large clumps of hard set dirt; the mirror for the photo finish was not set back from the running rail; the mirror appeared to be crooked; the alignment of the photo finish camera was questionable given that the camera was to be swivelled from the existing mount used for the Turf Track; Given the above concerns, it was determined at approximately 3.45pm that Race 1 could not be conducted on the Dirt Track as programmed. After consultation with the Club, it was determined to transfer Race 1 to the Turf Track, and the Trainers of all runners were given the opportunity to scratch their horses. The Club was further advised that prior to racing commencing on the Turf Track, the gap that had been cut in the inside running rail close to the finishing line would have to be remedied. -
Race 1. Al Reef Maiden Race 1400m The start of this race was delayed until 4.37pm whilst the Club remedied the inside running rail close to the finishing line. AL AGARR (AE) (S Al Reffai), AL JAZI W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen), DHAREEF (AE) (T Durcan) and MOR’EB (AE) (P Cosgrave) were all slow to begin. AL AGARR (AE) hung outwards in the early stages. In this incident, both MISWADAH (GB) and MUDALLAL AL REEF (AE) were inconvenienced and eased. Inside the final 50m, JAWHARA AL REEF (AE) and MUDALLAL AL REEF (AE) bumped.

MEYDAN RACECOURSE. THURSDAY JANUARY 5, 2012
Race 1. Longines Conquest Collection 1900m GLEN NEVIS (USA) (R Ffrench) rocked backwards as the gates opened and lost ground. SECRETIVE (GB) (P Cosgrave) was slow to begin. Making the turn into the home straight, KAL BARG (GB) (W Buick) and MODERN HISTORY (IRE) (A Ajtebi) brushed and then MODERN HISTORY (IRE) ran outwards away from KAL BARG (GB).
Race 2. Longines Prima Luna 2200m DR FAUSTUS (IRE) (P Dobbs) and FALCATIV (GB) (S Al Mazrooei) were slow to begin. AHLAAIN (USA) (R Ffrench) jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 100m, DR FAUSTUS (IRE) was eased when FALCATIV (GB) drifted inwards. Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (FALCATIV [GB]) was advised to ensure that he is clear when he shifts ground in future.
Race 3. Longines Dolce Vita (Meydan Masters Leg 1) 1600m UPTOWN GUY (USA) (M Guyon) and PLANET WAVES (IRE) (M Barzalona) were slow to begin. PLANET WAVES (IRE) raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the finishing line, FURNACE (IRE) (C O’Donoghue) drifted outwards crowding PASCHENDALE (GB) (L Dettori) out onto MASAALEK (GB) (T Queally).
Race 4. Longines Column Wheel Chronograph 1000m (Turf) NOCTURNAL AFFAIR (SAF) (C O’Donoghue) and INVINCIBLE ASH (IRE) (T O’Shea) jumped awkwardly. HUMIDOR (IRE) (L Dettori) was slow to begin. Passing the 400m, INTERNATIONALDEBUT (IRE) (F Tylicki) was impeded for clear running behind SPIN CYCLE (IRE) (R Mullen) and then shortly thereafter, angled to the inside of SPIN CYCLE (IRE) to obtain clear running. A short distance later, MONSIEUR JOE (IRE) (M Barzalona), which was also impeded behind INVINCIBLE ASH (IRE) and HAPPY DUBAI (IRE) (C Soumillon) angled to the outside of HAPPY DUBAI (IRE) endeavouring to obtain the same run as INTERNATIONALDEBUT (IRE). At this time, HUMIDOR (IRE) was impeded for a short distance behind INTERNATIONALDEBUT (IRE) and MONSIEUR JOE (IRE). Passing the 300m, SPIN CYCLE (IRE), which was racing to the outside of INTERNATIONALDEBUT (IRE) and commencing to tire, drifted inwards slightly, which resulted in INTERNATIONALDEBUT (IRE) and MONSIEUR JOE (IRE) bumping heavily. On enquiry, it was established that after being held up for clear running, both INTERNATIONALDEBUT (IRE) and MONSIEUR JOE (IRE) attempted the same run almost at the same time, and whilst it was acknowledged that SPIN CYCLE (IRE) had drifted inwards slightly as it commenced to tire, the Stewards were not satisfied that Jockey R Mullen (SPIN CYCLE [IRE]) could be held fully culpable for this incident. Notwithstanding, Jockey R Mullen was advised to ensure that he endeavours to maintain a straight course on his mounts when they commence to tire. A short distance later approaching the 200m, NOCTURNAL AFFAIR (SAF) shifted inwards carrying ZERO MONEY (IRE) (J Doyle) inwards onto the tiring SPIN CYCLE (IRE), causing SPIN CYCLE (IRE) to be eased. MONSIEUR JOE (IRE), which was racing to the inside of SPIN CYCLE (IRE), was also eased and obliged to alter course back to the inside of HAPPY DUBAI (IRE). On enquiry, Jockey C O’Donoghue (NOCTURNAL AFFAIR [SAF]) was advised that he must make greater endeavours to maintain a straight course in future. Passing the 100m, MONSIEUR JOE (IRE) was angled to the inside of the heels of GREEN BERET (IRE) (R Ffrench). Jockey A Nicholls (ADDICTIVE DREAM [IRE]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle. HAPPY DUBAI (IRE) returned having bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that HAPPY DUBAI (IRE) would not be permitted to start until it had passed a satisfactory gallop test in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer, to be conducted not before 21 days from the date of bleeding.

BANNA BOIRCHE (IRE) (S Foley) was slow to begin. QUICK WIT (GB) (K Fallon) began awkwardly and bumped with CANWINN (IRE) (W Buick). BRAVO ECHO (GB) (J Doyle) raced keenly in the early stages. From the 1300m until the 1200m, CANWINN (IRE) and ANAEROBIO (ARG) (C Soumillon), which were both racing keenly, raced tight to the inside of TAMAATHUL (GB) (R Hills). START RIGHT (GB) (L Dettori) was impeded for clear running from leaving the 500m until rounding the home bend. Leaving the 150m, START RIGHT (GB) was momentarily eased and angled around the heels of CITY STYLE (USA) (M Barzalona) to obtain clear running. A postrace veterinary examination of ANAEROBIO (ARG) revealed no abnormalities.

HANDICAP RATINGS
Where a horse has one rating ie Dirt this will apply to all surfaces (Dirt, Turf, All Weather). Where a horse has two ratings, ie Dirt and Turf, the HIGHEST rating of the two will be used for entry qualification purposes for the All Weather surface at Meydan. Where a horse has three ratings (Dirt, Turf, All-Weather) this will indicate that the All Weather is not the higher rating.
